In 2020, Mike became interested in keeping bees and joined the Kearsarge Beekeepers Association (KBA). Bee school was next and then his first package of bees. Like most local bee clubs, the KBA was very active and a great learning platform with their own apiary and a mentorship program. It didn’t take long for Mike to find a position in the New Hampshire Beekeepers Association (NHBA) and then get to see the beekeeping world open up and get bigger and more exciting.

     In 2024, Mike and Lisa lost their home to a fire and were helped greatly by many beekeepers and bee clubs all around the State of New Hampshire. To pay generosity forward, the Beekeepers Relief Fund was established with 5 directors and soon received certification from the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In its first year, the Relief Fund helped beekeepers from New Hampshire and several other states get through difficult situations.

     In the fall of 2025, Mike and Lisa acquired the well-known and very successful Hillside Beekeeping Supplies company based in Merrimack, NH. It has served beekeepers nationwide for over thirty years and has helped beekeepers get the best equipment and supplies for their hives and apiaries. Many new beekeepers learned hive management from Allen and his company and they remain successful today.

     January, 2026 is the beginning of Beekeeping Unlimited, a small quaint store in Sunapee, NH, that Mike and Lisa began as a source for equipment, supplies, gifts and conversation associated with beekeeping. Services include electric fence installations, honey extraction for hire, mite mitigation programs, and hive deliveries and installation. Beekeepingunlimited.com allows access to written blogs, recorded podcasts, a calendar of events and a resource center for the new beekeeper as well as the experienced ones still looking for more ... and aren’t we all, in one way or another.
